#StartupLokal fosters innovation and collaboration through workshops, talks and networking events, connecting founders, investors and tech enthusiasts nationwide.
It began as a Twitter chat. In April 2010 a group of people using the #StartupLokal hashtag decided to meet in person at a Starbucks in Jakarta — and have kept meeting ever since, openly and without a membership fee.

Fifteen years of meetups, a book, and Indonesia's first startup incubator.
- 2010
The first meetup
A Twitter chat on the #StartupLokal hashtag turned into a gathering at a Starbucks in Jakarta — the first-ever #StartupLokal meetup, and the start of a community built around Indonesia's local startup ecosystem.

#StartupLokal Kita
The community published a book collecting the stories of eighteen entrepreneurs and their startup journeys.
Project Eden
After Enterprise Ireland invited the community to see how Irish universities incubate startups, the same idea came home: Project Eden, the first startup incubator in Indonesia. It was initiated by Bernhard Soebiakto, Aulia Halimatussadiah, Natali Ardianto, Calvin Kizana, Kevin Mintaraga, Megain Widjaja, Andi Sadha and Nuniek Tirta Sari.
Investor Idol
Twenty selected startups competed for investment and a place in the Project Eden incubator. Google's team, led by Marissa Mayer, visited the programme.
- 2021
Telunjuk becomes Compas
Telunjuk was founded and incubated at Project Eden in 2012, then backed by Venture Republic, Venturra and Lippo Digital Ventures. In 2021 Diamond Food Indonesia acquired it, and it now trades as Compas.co.id.
Still meeting
More than a hundred meetups later, the format is unchanged: seminars that draw up to five hundred people, and workshops small enough to actually get something done.
