On white or a pale background
The default. Purple lettering with the word up in orange, and the swoosh underneath it.
Everything a partner, a venue or a writer needs to put #StartupLokal on a poster, a slide or a page. Take what you need. There is nothing to sign and nobody to ask first.
The same twelve slides we send whenever somebody asks who we are. The Canva link is always the current version, and the PDF is the copy to attach to an email.
One wordmark, two files each. Use the SVG anywhere it will be resized. The PNG is for the places that cannot read an SVG.
The default. Purple lettering with the word up in orange, and the swoosh underneath it.
The whole mark goes white, the orange included. Do not keep the up orange and turn the rest white: that reversal looks right and is not the brand's file.
For an avatar, an app tile, or anywhere too small for the full name. It does not replace the wordmark.
Five rules on each side, and all ten of them are about keeping it readable.
Leave clear space on all four sides, at least as tall as the hash.
Keep it 120px wide or more on a screen, 30mm or more in print. Below that the swoosh under up closes up.
Put it on white, on a pale background, or on a photograph light enough to read it against.
Use the white file on anything dark, rather than the purple one at low contrast.
Write the name as #StartupLokal: hash included, one word, capital S and capital L.
Do not recolour it, and do not flatten it to a single colour. The orange up is the point of it.
Do not stretch it, rotate it, or give it a shadow, an outline or a gradient.
Do not put the purple wordmark on a dark or busy background. That is what the white file is for.
Do not set the name in Baloo or any other face and call it the logo. Close is worse than obviously different.
Do not lock it inside a box, a circle or a pill of its own.
Four values. The first two are the logo, and the other two are the paper the site is printed on.
#5F0D8E
The wordmark, headings, links, and anything a reader can act on.
#F5A024
The up in the logo, and one button per screen. It is never a background.
#1E2433
Body text, and the one dark panel a page is allowed to carry.
#F8F6FB
The page behind all of it: a white sent very slightly purple.
The part most often got wrong, and the one that costs nothing to get right.
#StartupLokal
The community started as a Twitter hashtag in April 2010 and took its name from it, so the hash is part of the name rather than decoration around it.
One word, capital S and capital L. Startup Lokal written as two words is something else: in Indonesian that is the ordinary phrase for a local startup, and it does not mean us.
The domain is startuplokal.community, without the hash, because a domain cannot hold one. That is the only place the name appears without it.
Paste one of these into a release, a slide or a listing. Both say the same thing, so use the one your reader reads.
