Young Entrepreneur Series (YES) 2026
How the competition is judged The organisers name five things: the strength of the business idea, understanding of the market, commercial viability, capacity to execute, and potential impact. Two of those, capacity to execute and commercial viability, are easier to evidence from a venture that has already sold something than from an idea on a slide. The two categories are what let the same five questions be asked of both without one competing against the other. The programme ends with three awards: YES Champion, Best Idea, and Best Early Venture. What has not been announced The prizes. The organisers say the details of the awards and of what participants receive will be published on the programme's own site rather than in the launch announcement. The grand final has a month, January 2027, and no date. The judging is described by its criteria without saying how the five are weighted. Neither gap matters at the point of registering, but both are worth knowing before anybody plans a trip around the final.

Mekari Conference 2026: AI at Work
Who is speaking Main stage Interactive stage The second stage runs during the gaps in the main programme, so nobody has to choose between a talk and a demo. Why go The speakers on this bill are the people deciding how AI reaches Indonesian customers: the policy lead for OpenAI in the region, the person at Meta who sees what sells through WhatsApp, and the CTO of one of the country's largest consumer goods groups. For a founder selling to enterprises, a day in that room is a shortcut through several months of cold outreach. About the organiser Mekari builds business software for Indonesian companies: accounting, payroll, HR and customer messaging, sold to companies of every size across the country. Mekari Conference is its annual gathering for the leaders who buy and run that kind of software, and this is the edition on AI.

What the four pillars mean Every session across the week maps to one of four pillars, so a delegate can read the programme by what they came for rather than by which stage it is on. Build is the technical track, AI infrastructure, engineering practice, product architecture. Capital is fundraising strategy, investor office hours and closed LP, GP conversations. Market is go-to-market, regional expansion and sector deep-dives. Policy is the regulatory outlook, and the one room where industry and government are both sitting down. The ten anchor events Why an umbrella week matters Indonesia's tech calendar has never had a single week that everybody plans around. Founders raise on one schedule, corporates buy on another, and the regulators who set the terms show up to neither. An umbrella week does not fix that by programming everything itself, it fixes it by putting ten separately curated events on the same island in the same five days, so one flight covers what used to take four. That is the bet Bali Tech Week is making, and it is why the week is worth the trip even for founders with no interest in eight of the ten events. Not sure whether the trip is worth it?
