#StartupLokal is a community for digital startups in Indonesia. It is a melting pot for startup founders, investors, journalists, and enthusiasts to meet regularly. We arrange our monthly meetup which is attended by around 200-400 participants each month. My role here is to plan topic, invite speakers, set venue, negotiate with sponsors, and become host for #StartupLokal monthly meetup. I also regularly meet either Indonesian or foreign investors who wants to get insights about startup scene in Indonesia. This community grew from social media especially twitter, and now become the biggest startup community in Indonesia. It was covered on front page of Kompas newspaper, The Jakarta Globe, Globe Asia, Jawa Pos, Swa Magazine, Gatra, Market+, GH Indonesia, Chic, and several national & international radio stations. We were invited by Enterprise Ireland to visit Dublin on March 2011 and see how their government supports startups industry.
